COMBINED ITEM MASTER/ITEM BALANCE FILE MAINTENANCE, HISTORY AND SYNCHRONIZATION

By simplifying Item Master and Item Balance File Maintenance, our Combined Item Master Maintenance enhancement saves you time and effort, assures a more accurate data base and provides new fields and files for additional data. The enhancement allows the user to synchronize the Item Master and Item Balance Files.

During file maintenance, the operator selects the screens to be maintained and 
the system automatically advances through Item Master and then Item Balance
Maintenance without returning either to a select screen or a menu. Items added
to the Item Master file are not omitted from the Item Balance, since they can be 
added at the same time Item Master Records are added. Data fields common  to
the two files will be carried forward by the system automatically unless changed 
by the operator

MAPICS treats Item Master and Item Balance Maintenance as separate functions
by combining them into a single function, we are able to both greatly improve data
entry productivity and reduce errors

The Set Defaults capability greatly reduces the time to add a new product line which
is similar to an existing line, or to add warehouse locations to existing items

Automatically carry forward common data from Item Master to Item Balance

Add multiple warehouses and common data for a single Item Number by paging
through a series of screens

By retaining all file Maintenance History on the system, a complete audit trail can
be printed periodically for hard copy retention or upon demand for individual items
to resolve questions internally or by auditors

Item Master/Item Balance Synchronization-This identifies missing Item Balance
records, MRP logic if selected, and mis-matched Item Classes, Warehouse Locations
and Primary Vendors. The option exists to selectively update Item Balance data to
match the Item Master fields. This capability is essential to maintain an accurate data
base

The MAPICS File Maintenance screen layouts, help text and editing are used for
MAPICS compatibility
